Q: I am noticing my sterling silver jewelry looks dull or slightly yellow. What can I do?
A: Our sterling silver jewelry is finished with a final red rouge polish to give it a high luster and long lasting shine. However, with neglect it can start to look dull, yellow, then even turn a dark grey. It is very easy to keep your jewelry looking as beautiful and bright as the day you received it. Start by using a high quality silver polishing cloth imbedded with an anti-tarnish compound to remove any tarnish build-up. Then store your jewelry in a plastic baggie to protect it from the oxidation process that occurs when silver comes into contact with oxygen. By storing your jewelry in plastic, you will rarely need to polish it. Mild soap and water will also remove dirt and oils. Be very careful to keep the polishing cloth away from porous stones such as pearls, opals, mother of pearl, coral and shell.
